Setting in Bangkok’s river in the 18th century. The horror & love story based on a Thai legend ghost, Mae Nak’s death of giving birth caused the villagers to terror. However, she lived most of her life after dead seeking to reunite with her lover. With her magic and pure love, Mae Nak conjured her fantasy world, ready to welcome her husband home. But will that be enough to stop the villagers from their hypocrisy?

Performed by Bangkok Theatre Network, the audience was brought back to vibe in ‘60s France. Inspired by Moliere’s “The Rehearsal at Versailles” and David Hirson’s “La Bete,” the genius playwright and director Parnrut Kritchanchai recounted a story of the director of a royal court’s theatre troupe who is ordered to work with a talented youngblood artist to create a fun, modern performance. The clashes between the two generations came with witty gags, sarcasm that left the audience with barely a minute to stop laughing. It received the BTF Special Mention Award.

The story of the political prisoner who stood for what he believes. Setting in Thailand’s Pre-World War II when The Thai Monarchy was taken down by the military government. The arrested treaters were locked in jail for over a decade. With their days counting down, the only thing that keeps them going is friendship and hope for change.

“True Blue is a super intense drama. It was a tough challenge. And to tell the story of the political prisoner, I chose to merge the art of musical theatre with the film score (which is my background) in my composition and orchestration. This production not only granted me to explore what can musical theatre do but I also got to write music with the legendary composers of Thailand!”
